Excalibur moves to Social Responsibility Business Model

Excalibur has recognised that within the every tightening fiscal climate, the sector suffering the most will be the Third Sector; being more in demand for its services, but with less finacial receipts than ever, this sector will be struggling to resource their commercial processes. Therefore with effect from 1st April 2010, Excalibur will be trading within its new business model, re-investing 80% of its pre-tax profits into third sector organisations for the provision of commercial support, guidance and training. With Public sector cut backs, the third sector is being called upon to deliver more and more front line services and with commercial support and training, delivery of these front line services will be effective and efficient.

Excalibur Launches a New Low Cost Commercial Support Service

Excalibur has launched a new service which provides a cost effective and efficient commercial support solution for small to medium size public sector bodies. By taking on part or all of the commercial function, the new service operates seamlessly within the infrastructure and governance arrangements of the host organisation. This allows front line staff to focus their efforts on core service delivery to the public. At the same time they know that their commercial processes, market development and strategic support are being handled by a team of recognised professionals who have the required skills and knowledge.

The service is delivered through a dedicated in-house team of professionals supported by a state of the art commercial management tool and a network of specialist associates who can be called upon to provide support in areas requiring a particular skill.

The service offered is modular in style, made up of a core element with other specific clients needs bolted on as required. Payment is through a fixed annual fee paid monthly in arrears. For example a medium sized public sector organisation commissioning the service may expect to pay less than the cost of employing a full-time commercial professional. In addition, savings and efficiencies are available from reduced in-house administration and support functions as these are undertaken as part of the Excalibur package.

Typical costs for providing the service range from £85,000 to £130,000 per year depending on the size and complexity of the organisation, however where two or more organisations in the same sector use the Excalibur Service there may be reductions in costs through shared generic functions.

Launching the new initiative, Excalibur’s Managing Director, Ian Clarke, describes the service as one that meets the growing needs of smaller public sector organisations. “Managing budgets effectively and keeping control on costs are key responsibilities for the public sector” he said. “The ever tightening fiscal climate and continued strive to find operational efficiencies and cashable savings, means that organisations need to ensure they are fully equipped to deliver value for money from all services. Finding the right support at the right price is critical to the effective running of an organisation and that is what Excalibur is offering with this service”.
